README file for MESS Image Archive files (by Burger Man):

The files contained on this page are photos in PNG format of the various systems for the M.E.S.S. emulator.  These files are best used with MESS32 or potentially with a frontend for MESS that supports displaying PNG files.

Currently, MESS32 supports 3 (possibly 4 by now since Mame32 recently adopted an extra one) sets of pictures per system.  This may change in the future as the MESS32 GUI changes to be more friendly for MESS systems than MAME ones (MESS32 is adapted from MAME32).  This means that for now you can have alternate photos of the various MESS computer and console systems.  Eventually, it may only allow one set per system and the other two directories would be for screenshots and cartridges or something.

Photos are contained in 3 directories, Snap, Flyers and Cabinets.  These correspond to the same directories from MESS32.  Many of the photos are taken from MESS ROMs and The Home Computer Museum at the moment, but many are from other sites as well.  Where a 3rd set exists (contained in the Cabinets) directory, it is usually an alternate form of an existing system (e.g. There is an Amiga 500 in the Flyers directory, but an Amiga 2000 in the Cabinets directory.  Likewise, there is a C64 in the Images directory, a C64C in the Flyers directory and a C64G in the Cabinets directory).  This may all change over time, though.  Since the Home Computer Museum ones contain http addresses in the photo, I've put most of them (except where no alternate was available) in the flyers directory (i.e. the 2nd picture that would come up under MESS32). In any case, there are basically 1-3 pictures to view for each system.

To use the photos, just download either the main archive and unarchive it into your MESS32 directory (or frontend directory, if supported) or download the individual files you may be interested in from the directories provided.  From MESS32, you can just click on the system photo to display the alternate flyer and cabinet directory photos in sequence (where available).  You can, of course, reverse their locations by moving any or all of the various files or just use whatever ones you want.

If you own one of the photos found on this site and would like it removed, please contact the Webmaster of this site, TkChris and let him know so he can remove it.

If you have photos of any missing systems, please post a message to the Mess Message Board and select MESS).  Obviously, as new systems are added, new photos will be collected, but there are a couple olders ones missing at present (Laser 350 for instance) that I've been unable to locate a photo for.
